JUST ONE DAY BEFORE Pres. Barack Obama signed into federal law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare), members of the Patrick Henry Caucus witnessed Gov. Gary Herbert sign into law HB67 Health System Amendments [sponsored by Rep. Carl Wimmer, PHC Co-Founder]. With this new law on the books, Utah was granted “standing” (i.e. the right to participate) in the federal court battle to repeal Obamacare.
March 22, 2012 marked the two year anniversary of the signing of H.B.67 into law. This bill prohibits Obamacare from being implemented in Utah until the legislature has reviewed its provisions and expressly prohibits the government from mandating citizens of Utah to purchase health insurance.
So, the battle continues. The U.S. Supreme Court has heard arguments recently on this landmark case and will shortly deliver its opinion on the federal supremacy and constitutionality of this Washington DC mandate. Obamacare clearly violates the 10th Amendment. And, we must continue to band together to defeat this federal encroachment on the States.
Whatever the determination by the High Court on this issue, the Patrick Henry Caucus across the nation will vigilantly fight to defeat a federal government run amok. We are committed!
The Founders of the Patrick Henry Caucus endeavor to work with legislatures across the United States, and with citizens everywhere, to design, debate, and pass measures upholding the independent condition of each Sovereign State. Our ultimate goal is to unite 50 States…
Carl Wimmer’s bill is just one small step forward in the war for States’ Rights.
Said Patrick Henry…”The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.”
We will win!
